As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Cleveland Browns are at a crossroads with their quarterback situation. After the Deshaun Watson era came crashing down in a week 7 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals after Watson tore his Achilles. After 3 seasons of searching for stability and consistency under center, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart COULD be the answer they've been looking for. Here's an in-depth look at why Dart might be the quarterback Cleveland needs.

Dart, having transferred from USC to Ole Miss, has made a significant impact in the SEC. His performance in the 2024 season was nothing short of spectacular, throwing for 3,875 yards and 25 touchdowns, with just six interceptions. Dart led Ole Miss to a dominant 52-20 victory over Duke in the Gator Bowl, showcasing his ability to manage composure in high-pressure situations while maintaining efficiency and poise. His senior year statistics place him among the top quarterbacks in the nation, with a passer rating of 180.7, the highest in college football that year.
As far as Darts translation to the NFL, his arm strength is undoubtedly one of his most praised attributes. He's known for his ability to throw deep and accurately, key for a rookie quarterback. His versatility in adapting to different arm angles and his comfort in RPO (Run-Pass Option) schemes could translate well into the NFL's evolving offensive play styles. Dart isn't just a pocket passer either, his ability to scramble and extend plays with his legs adds another dimension to his game. This mobility could be crucial for the Browns, who ranked fifth worst in total yards per game in the previous season.
While I would be intrigued by Darts ability, there are much better options in the earlier rounds. I do not think he is worth the first-round grade some analysts have given him.
Floor: Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham
Ceiling: Chargers QB Justin Herbert
Draft Prediction: Las Vegas or New Orleans take a swing on Dart in round one.
Really nice article!!!
